Aiming for clean and conscious citizens BD Clean and IUBAT endeavored together at Uttara

Aregular weekly cleaning event jointly organized by BD Clean and IUBAT effectively completed at Uttara Sector 10, Dhaka on Friday 3.30 pm,13 December.The participants included first-semester students of Environmental Science and Sustainability course of IUBAT—International University of Business Agriculture and Technology andthe school students of Aga Khan Academy along with 40 members of BD Clean. The event began with a large gathering at the university’s Shaheed Minar premises, where various responsible figures from Uttara delivered inspiring speeches.

The Zonal Coordinator of BD Clean Uttara Zone 1, Abir Hossain emphasized that BD Clean is a non-political organization with the motto: “Cleanliness begins with me.” He urged everyone to use dustbins instead of littering elsewhere and expressed the aspiration to present Bangladesh to the world as a clean and germ-free nation. Among BD Clean, Bangalee Shimul and Co-coordinator Bristi Akter Umma extended gratitude to the students for their participation on behalf of BD Clean and encouraged unity for effective cleanliness and awareness campaigns.

Dr. Md. Rehan Dastagir, Associate Professor of the Department of Environmental Science emphasized on cleanliness that is an integral to environmental conservation and sustainable development and inaugurated the program by reciting the BD Clean pledge to everyone.

Later on, the participants divided into four groups to conduct cleaning on several roads in Uttara Sector 10. They also spread messages of cleanliness to tea stalls, grocery shops, and the public, urging everyone to dispose of waste in dustbins and refrained from littering.Along with the Aga Khan Academy students, their guardians also participated. Additionally, IUBAT students expressed their commitment to collaborating with BD Clean in the future, displaying great enthusiasm to contribute to this noble cause.
