Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam

Dr. Md Shafiqul Islam was born in 1991. He completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physics from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, in 2015 and 2017, respectively.

In October 2017, he achieved the Japanese government scholarship (MEXT) under the International Graduate Program for Advanced Science (IGPAS) of Tohoku University for a two-year master's program and a three-year doctoral program. He received his second master’s in the field of theoretical condensed matter and statistical Physics from Tohoku University. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from Tohoku University on September 26, 2022, in the field of electron crystallography. After that, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Frontier Research Institute for Interdisciplinary Sciences (FRIS), Japan, from October 2022 to March 2023. At present, he is working as an assistant professor in the Department of Physics, IUBAT. His research mainly focuses on crystal structure analysis of nanoscale materials using electron microscopy and first-principles calculations.
